Including the Big Three Basketball High Schools Saginaw High, Arthur Hill And Buena Vista. This list is just according to TOP DAWGS BASKETBALL and has no credibility what’s so ever, this list is very biased and possible it isn’t fair. This is just to drive traffic to a site and for you to comment and add your Top Ten or so. Rember 1986 to present….
Saginaw High Trojans
Anthony Roberson- AAAAAAAAAHHHHH WWWWWHHHHOOOOOP Is all you would here when ever A. Robe would shoot from deep. Starting PG for 4 years and an Mc Donald All American, set in game scoring record during his run.
Jesse Draine- One of the first Big men able to play on the wing as a Trojan. Strong Athlete with a smooth jump shot also Mr. Basketball candidate
Delano Johnson- Best Guard to come through Saginaw High, His Most Points in Middle School still stands at 63 and that’s without a 3 point line. Unstoppable on the AAU circuit
Draymond Green- From his Sophomore to his Junior year had to be the most hard working big man to come through Saginaw High. Transitioned from the Post to the Wing with ease, also responsible for back to back Ships.
Lou Dawkins- Sweet Lou the passing lane King, 3 year starter that was tough on defense, also a smooth scorer to set the all time in game scoring record during his time in black and gold
Darryl Reed- They don’t make “em” like Big Darryl anymore, tough as nails in the post with a soft touch. May be considered the top Post to come through Saginaw.
Daniel West Jr.- Made the game easier for everyone including his self. Mr. Triple Double was one of a kind Guard during the Golden Era for the Trojans. Silky smooth handles and passing helped snatch 2 state Ships.
Daniel West Sr.- Hard Nosed guard that could Guard you 94 feet, the definition of turning Defense to Offense. The Original D West is a one of a kind guard in a very tough Basketball Era. Could score the ball on any spot on the court.
Eugene Seals – 4 year starter, Mr. Basketball runner up, Fookie brought it all to the table, Scoring inside out, guarding the post to the wing and handling the ball in transition. A true leader on the court.
Herb Warren- One of the most underrated basketball talents in Saginaw’s basketball history. Well the boy did score 52 points breaking the in game scoring record for the Trojans. Terrific athlete with pro like moves to score the ball.
Dwayne Nash- One of Saginaws most household names Wazyne Nash an under sized big man with a great shooting streak out of this world. The true meaning of Trojan Basketball, responsible for bringing the 1996 Championship home.
Lamarr Woodley- For 3 years strait he brought his hard hat and Lunch pail to work every night. Undersized for Center, he may have the most rebounds in Trojan history, and nasty picks as well. Multiple All States for basketball.
Tanoris Shepard- A point Guards Point Guard, unstoppable off the dribble, super athletic at his height, will in and out you to death.
Javon Jackson- Held it down at the High when it was a down year or two. At his size was unstoppable as a passer and scorer. Feisty on ball Defense.
Arthur Hill Lumberjacks
DeAndre Hullett- Big time 6’8 guard wing big man that did it all, arguably the best all-around basketball talent Saginaw has ever seen. Dre Hullett can use a sick hesitation in and out handle to create his jump shot on the wing.
Jason Richardson- Hands down the best Athlete/Dunker the State of Michigan has ever seen. Hard worker that just flat out had more energy than anyone on the court. Mr. Basketball, Mr ESPN, J Rich J Monkey, put the Sag Back on the Map
Darquavius Tucker- 2nd Best Athlete Behind Jason Richardson isn’t bad by no means. Not just an athlete a 4 year starter that brought it every night, underated ball handler and shooter will give Nightmares. He is responsible for the Arthur Hill State Championship in Saginaw Golden Era.
Brian Bowen- Even though he is still playing as a Sophomore J Rich little cousins has his own name. Tuggs can handle shoot and dunk, but what separates him in this Era is that he plays hard on both ends of the floor. He is ranked as the highest prospect in Saginaw since Terrance Roberson, he may climb the list before it’s over.
Maurice Cooper- The smallest player on the court every night, but also the most talented. At 5’6 “Lil Pookie” is super quick with his handle, can pull up from deep and dunk it. Plays with major heart and gets the job done.
Anthony Lewis- Definition of a captain, wing man that played very hard with a nice pull up jump shot. Could defend and also score, held it down when the Hill wasn’t considered a power house.
Jordan Hare- The tallest athlete to come through Saginaw at 6’11 he can run and jump like he plays the Wing. Decent touch with his jump shot, just a problem trying to defend or trying to score around him
Brian Moten- 4 year starter with a mid-range jump shot that is impossible to guard. Has to be one of the leading scorers all time in Lumberjack History.
Eric Davis – 4 year starter, Mr. Basketball candidate has a silky smooth point guard game. Can catch and shoot, or get a shot of the dribble. Underrated as an Athlete can make athletic plays
Reggie Townsend- True big man with a series of slick moves in the post he uses to score. Knows how to use his body alos has a sweet touch from 15 feet on in.
CoCo Simington – Came to play every night, can score with the best of them with a sweet jump shot. If you let him get hot it would be a long night for a defender.
Tubbs Whitson- A strong athletic Guard that can shoot from deep or dunk on you at the basket. Really was a guard before his time when it comes to athleticism and toughness. Sick athlete!!!
James Davis- Strong athletic Scoring Guard that could pull up from deep or mid-range. Very underrated for what he could do on the court.
Buena Vista Knights
Terrence Roberson- the Best overall rated and accomplished High School player Saginaw Has ever seen. T Robe at 6’7 is a top athlete and can score from 3 point on in effectively. 3 time All American and Multiple Championships is very rare.
Mark Macon- Shaken Bacon Mark Macon is probably the best Guard the city has ever seen. With professional moves and work ethic proved to be one of the nation’s best as Mr. Basketball and as a Champion.
Shed Murrell- Underrated but at the same time he wasn’t, deadly ball handling and smooth passing for the 6’4 Guard. They don’t make guard like this every day, have to see to believe, big reason for Dynasty.
Tory Jackson- Do it all Guard that Put Buena Vista on his back winning 2 State Championships. Great ball handler that can get to the rim or pull up on you at any time. Rejuvenated Buena Vista Basketball Single handedly.
Chester Surls- Sometime a forgotten member during a Golden Era at Buena Vista. At 6’7 can play with his back to the basket or can face up on you to get short jump shot with nice touch.
Archie Tullos- Great Shooter from deep and the three point line. Tough nosed guard that can defend.
Puncho Sanders- Strong athletic guard that plays the Point Guard Position to a Tee. Can stick the jump shot, play tenacious defense and meet you at the Rim
Chris Coles- Scoring guard with nice handle. Sparked a basketball revolution in Saginaw with the Game winning 55 foot shot vs. Flint Beecher in the State Championships
Terrance Wright.- Great shooter and Athlete, held it down for Buena Vista when the glory years wasn’t around.
George Goodman – A scoring guard by all means, not that tall he can get his shot on the court with speed. Led Buena Vista in scoring 2 -3 years strait.
Montrell Green – Big Man that will bang down low and if you’re not careful you will get dunked on. Post player that has a lot of low post moves to mix it up with.
Reggie Prince- A standout Guard that help Buena Vista Basketball get back relevant. Great ball handler that uses a series of hesitation moves to find his shot from deep or mid-range
Nick Cliff- Taller ball handler that uses his size to get to his sweet spots on the court. Smooth athlete that can mix it up on the defensive end.
Dedo Jackson- Fiery Point guard that uses his quickness to his advantage. At his size he can use his athleticism to make different exciting basketball plays on the floor.
Coach, Basketball talent Scout
